WINE MUSEUM

Cultural development

Typology: Urban intervention

Client: Private

Location: Gerakari, Greece

Status: Concept design, 2014

The challenge in the design of the outdoor wine museum was to generate a large scale cultural attraction for the locals and the tourists. The proposal suggested an outdoor wine museum that demonstrates and tells the story of the wine production.

The site, outside of the village of Gerakari at the foot of Psyloritis, is a unique place. The museum is integrated to the landscape and offers a mountain experience in Crete.

A three dimensional metal grid is proposed to shelter and form an outdoor market. The scaffolding structure exposed and partially closed creates solids and voids that are used for the needs of the market.
