The Red House is a building constructed in the 1930’s. It is a historical listed building. The project included the renovation and restoration of the building that was converted into a boutique hotel. The original red tinted colour paint of the house was retained. The bright tint distinguishes it from its surrounding and provides a contrast to the hues of the grassy hillside and the blue skies and swimming pool.
We used natural stone and wood as a key part of the Red House renovation palette. The stone walls were sustained and preserved. Some were left plain to blend with the landscape, and others are smooth plastered.
Beyond the entrance, a courtyard with a pool at its centre creates an area for relaxing. Next to the courtyard is the annex, a small one strorey building with an ensuite guest bedroom. The main house has an open-plan living and dining room on the ground floor. This is situated alongside the pool. The ensuite master bedroom also occupy the ground floor. The stairs to the attic lead to the second bedroom of the house.
