The concept of the ‘kilimi’ chair is part of the collection series that were made to promote and brand Greek folklore design. The aim of the project was to redefine the design and meaning of folklore objects.
Dining chair
Each chair is constructed using thin square rods of galvanised steel. They are then coated with paint in a white colour. The aim was the frames to appear delicate and lightweight, as if they might float away. The upholstered seat of the chairs is using ‘kilimi’, a traditional folk handicraft of Crete. Its vibrant colour and patterns contrast with the geometric steel base structure.
