The project includes a new build three bedroom house together with the refurbishment of an existing two storey pitched house with a new proposed pool and landscape design.
The new build is inspired by ancient architecture and monastic buildings, local stone and monolithic walls help to blend in with the surrounding landscape.
The main living areas are situated in a pavilion-like glazed ground floor to ensure it enjoys the best views of the site's mature trees. They are flanked on one side by full-height glazing that can open up to the outdoors and is looking out onto the garden and the swimming pool. The pool's walls appear to rise out of the ground, which slopes away at its far end.
The lower floor has been buried in the ground and it contains the bedrooms, which are kept cool by the surrounding earth. The rooms are all open directly to the earth filled courtyard. Sheltered inside the underground bedrooms, the users can observe the magnificent landscape that is in front of them.
